HealthLog vs Apple Health

Updated · ODEL makes HealthLog; Apple Health is by Apple.

Which is better, HealthLog or Apple Health?

Choose Apple Health if you want a free, built-in place for readings that can also receive data from connected devices, produce a blood pressure PDF and share with family through Health Sharing; choose HealthLog if you want a diary for blood pressure, blood sugar, weight and pulse with notes and tags on each reading, measurement reminders and both PDF and CSV reports. HealthLog can read from Apple Health and write readings back, but only with the permissions you grant, so the two can work together. HealthLog needs no account and saves entries in an encrypted file on the device, with optional iCloud sync. It is free to download with Premium options. Both are logs: your doctor interprets the numbers, and this is not medical advice.

Questions

Can I use HealthLog and Apple Health together?

Yes. HealthLog can read blood pressure, blood glucose, weight and heart rate from Apple Health and write readings back, with the permissions you choose. You can also decline and type readings in.

Can Apple Health export blood pressure to a spreadsheet?

Apple Health's Export All Health Data shares an archive of all your Health data rather than a simple table of readings. HealthLog creates a CSV report on the device for the period you choose.
