# How to record with the front and back camera at the same time on iPhone

> Record a video with both iPhone cameras in one take: choose a layout, set quality and lenses, change the layout after shooting, and export vertical and horizontal versions.

Reaction videos, travel narration and interviews all need two views at once: what is in front of you and the person filming. Recording them separately and syncing the clips later takes time. Recording both cameras in one take avoids that.

## What you need

- An iPhone that supports multi-camera capture and iOS 16.4 or later
- [Dualify](/app/dualify), which records the front and back camera together in a single take

## 1. Choose a layout

Pick how the two views share the frame: picture-in-picture, a 50/50 split or a shaped frame. Picture-in-picture suits reactions; a split suits conversations where both sides matter equally.

## 2. Set quality and lens

Dualify records up to 4K at 60fps. Choose the back lens (0.5x, 1x or telephoto) before you start; zoom presets let you switch quickly.

## 3. Record

Start recording once. Both cameras roll together, so there is nothing to sync afterwards.

## 4. Change the layout after shooting

If the layout you chose does not work for the final video, use ReFrame to change it without recording again. You can also choose the output format: 9:16, 16:9 or the original.

## 5. Export for each platform

Export one merged file, or vertical (9:16) and horizontal (16:9) versions at once, so the same take works for short-form apps and for YouTube.
